Huckel Excavations: a Central Coast website build with history at its heart
A website project bringing Huckel Excavations’ services, work and family history online, with domain and email support along the way.
How do you bring seven decades of business experience into a modern website?
For Huckel Excavations, it began with a conversation about visibility. The family-owned Central Coast business approached House of Sunday Studio to get its name, work and history online—and make it easier for prospective clients to discover what it offers.
We worked together on a website that presents its services, showcases real projects and tells the family story. During the build, we also investigated and resolved existing domain and email configuration issues, before completing the project with client approval, an education session and handover.

Bringing word of mouth into the digital world
Established in 1956 and based in Tuggerah, Huckel Excavations had years of work and experience to share.
Word of mouth had helped people discover the business, but the client recognised that it could no longer do all the work on its own. In 2026, prospective customers have immediate access to information and often want to research a business before making contact.
A recommendation can start that process. A website gives people somewhere to follow it.
Huckel wanted an online presence where visitors could understand the business, explore its capabilities and see the history behind the name. Our task was to make that information accessible and give it a presentation that felt true to the people doing the work.
Shaping the website brief together
We consulted with the client to understand their priorities and develop an agreed scope of work.
The website needed to explain the breadth of the business without making visitors work to find the information relevant to their project. It also needed to balance current capabilities with the family history that makes Huckel distinctive.
We organised the build around six core pages:
Home: an introduction to the business, its experience and its Central Coast base.
What we do: earthmoving and civil works, plant and equipment hire, trucks and transport, and material supply.
Our work: photographs showcasing completed projects.
Our story: the family history, from the early business to today.
Environmental responsibility: a dedicated place for the business’s environmental information.
Contact: clear contact details and a project enquiry pathway.
Strong photography, straightforward language and clear navigation connect those pages. Visitors can learn about a service, see examples of work and take the next step towards discussing their own project.
Giving the family history a place in the design
The history of Huckel Excavations deserved more than a line saying “established in 1956”.
On the “Our story” page, archival photographs sit alongside images of the family and fleet today. The “Then & Now” section brings those eras together, showing how the equipment and scale have changed while the family name remains at the centre of the business.
That pairing gives visitors something a service list alone cannot: a sense of the people and experience behind the machinery.

Resolving domain and email issues during the build
As the website developed, the client explained that they had also been experiencing email issues.
We investigated the domain and hosting setup and identified several configuration errors dating back to the original setup. We then corrected the affected domain and email settings to resolve the issues raised.
This work became an important part of the project. Alongside presenting the business online, we helped address problems with the communication it relies on every day.
From consultation to approval and handover
The client remained involved throughout the build.
We reviewed the content, design and direction together, drawing on their knowledge to represent the services, history and work accurately. Their feedback guided refinements before the final approval.
We then completed an education session and handover, walking the client through the finished website and the relevant parts of their setup.
For House of Sunday, that process is part of delivering a considered website: understanding the business, involving the people behind it and following through on the details.
An online home for Huckel Excavations
The completed website gives Huckel Excavations a place to share its capabilities, showcase its work and preserve its history.
It supports the next step after a recommendation and gives people discovering the business for the first time a clear introduction.
